At times, life shapes a little differently than expected. Uncontrollable twists & turns drift us away from who or how we wanted to be “When I grow up”.

I mean, I doubt we wanted to be tired, stressed, sick, and unsatisfied with our lives as we grew older. Yet, somehow that seems like the collective sentiment or way of living as of lately.

Now humor me and ask yourself – Do you actually agree to live tired, stressed, and content with less-than-ideal lifestyles? Is that truly an uncontrollable twist of events?

I’m here to call BS! You don’t have to stand it! You have options and you can shift your life to balance your health and get closer to the person you’ve always wanted to be. You can be healthier, calmer, happier, and with plenty of energy to live.

What is a Health Journey?

A health journey is a path of exploration & healing that helps you to change what doesn’t work for your well-being. It allows you to gradually change the course of your life into a path of rich health, strong emotional intelligence, and fulfilled expectations. It’s the road you take when you are fed up with being tired, when stress and anxiety are ruling your life or when you notice you love yourself too much to be satisfied with a mediocre life. 

Basically, it’s the adventure you embrace when you are not satisfied with how your life is shaping out and want to be proactive about its transformation.

When you can’t relate to the reflection in the mirror, it’s time for a Health Journey.

If you are reading up to here, it means that you are not pleased with the way you live and you are curious to know where you are taking the wrong turns. Ultimately, you demand to know your options.

I’ll start with stating 3 key aspects of life that have been gravely mislabeled by an unhealthy, but trendy, culture.

  • Sleep is for when you are dead!

  • Healthy Food can’t be fulfilling!

  • Exercise is not for everyone!

If you want to experience quality sleep in the 21st century you must be a proactive defender of your sleeping schedules to assure proper maintenance is taken care of. That’s is not the reality for many.

  • You don’t have a bedtime and you go to bed only when you finish your To-Do List.

  • You are all about producing and working yourself to the limit.

  • You only eat ‘healthy’ when you diet to lose weight.

  • You exercise because of cultural trends and stop as they fizzle out.

  • You feel guilty about taking a break or resting.

  • You are sure you’ll end up sick and tired anyway so why bother trying. #YOLO

Those daily choices are keeping you in a sucky life spiral where you can’t seem to catch a break. Those premises are WRONG for you and don’t have your best interest at heart. It’s time to learn you have healthier options of living if you are willing to break free from the herd, explore your preferences, and try different health standards.

For example, prioritizing quality sleep, expanding food experiences, and moving your body as it was intended.

Those are the lifestyle choices or ‘twists and turns’ you can choose for yourself. Those factors are not uncontrollable. You have a voice and vote, and you can opt-out of the negative outcomes. Growing and getting older is not a series of unfortunate events if you protect and respect your needs.

 

In a health journey, you learn about creating those healthy boundaries that honor what you want out of life. You explore and try the best and healthiest way to reconcile both your needs and your circumstances. The focus of a health journey is your wellbeing therefore everything is centered around your preferences and what makes you happy. 

 

Eureka! Now What?

To embrace a health journey, you need to explore the following.

  • Who you are?

  • Who you want to be?

  • Where is the disconnection?

  • How to sync them back up?

The most important part of this phase is, to be honest with reality and not sugar coat anything. Acceptance is key. Once that is clear the fun part begins. It's all about being selfish with those preferences, protective of those needs, and creative with the way to meeting them both.

From my journey to yours

Growing older is not an excuse.

I used to wear stress and fatigued as a badge of honor. I thought that was what you were supposed to do as you grew up. The truth was that my ignorance and compliance made me blind to making better choices for my health, for myself. Now, I was forced into a health journey by a health scare but that does not mean is the only way. You can embrace one before everything crashes and burns.

Whenever your life is not going as planned just know that some twists and turns are responsive to your actions, you have a vote in the matter. You can choose better for yourself. You just need to be willing to explore and try new things by embracing a health journey.
