Mindfulness
How Does it Work? | Why Practice it?
How does it work?
To be mindful is to be focused and submerge solely on the Present. It is a technique that allows you to devalue the perception of feelings and judgement. With mindfulness you relent control of situations that cause you anxiety or stress. You manage to weaken the power of reactivity to emotions. In other words, you build resilience to stress triggers and rewire your brain to respond to them better.
Why practice it?
If you are stressed you are focusing on the past -wasted effort because you can’t go back-, if you are anxious you are focusing on the future --wasted energy because you may be playing unreal scenarios--. To be living the here and now is a quite simple and powerful way to get the best out of life. It is a relevant investment of your energy. Mindfulness provides the opportunity to find and turn OFF the Autopilot switch of living and take everything as it is, not as it was or could be. By consequence you cope with every situation that comes up with the energy and grace it requires, your attention and energy are focused on something tangible and relevant.
It can be uncomfortable and challenging to try to override a default system (SNS) we have accustomed our brain and body to live in. So, you have to pull through the awkwardness and remind yourself that you owe it to yourself to live in a PNS state.
Mindfulness Shifts to Try
From my journey to yours
You can live calm around uncertainty.
Now more than ever, mindfulness practices should be incorporated in our daily routines. Living in a world full of uncertainty is the least ideal scenario to be able to calm ourselves. But the reality is that the only way to survive it is to take it one day at a time. Administer energy sources 24 hrs. at a time. Don’t waste efforts on the past or worry about the future…LIVE happy in the now.
Until Next One!
